Semantic Discovery: Discovering Complex Relationships in Semantic Web

A NSF Medium ITR project

Semantic Web Technology Evaluation Ontology (SWETO)

Quality of SWETO is described in terms of how entities extracted from multiple sources were disambiguated.

Using Semagix Freedom, entity instances are disambiguated using syntactic matches and similarities (aliases), customizable ranking rules, and relationship similarities among entities. Furthermore, if Freedom detects ambiguity among new entities with respect to those in the knowledge base, yet it is unable to disambiguate them within a defined degree of certainty, the entities are flagged for manual disambiguation with some system help on possible matches

We are currently developing algorithms that deal with other issues in disambiguation of entities. Approaches such as clustering and other algorithms that are specific to certain classes (i.e. Professor) deal with semantic issues and large scale factors to disambiguate entities.
